Until Christ be formed in you...

Intimacy with Christ indwelling leads to full life. It is when we totally yield our human spirits to the indwelling Holy Spirit
of Christ Jesus. That involves a conscious, deliberate act of our will to invite Him in and to yield to His Lordship. "Behold
I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and
he with Me" (Revelation 3:20). His presence in our hearts (humans spirits) keeps the destroyer out (Exodus 12:23). He,
Christ Jesus, lives in us.
Note Paul's prayer for us in Ephesians 3:16-19 (which should be our continual prayer for ourselves):
"... that He would grant you ... to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ
may dwell in our hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to
comprehend ... and to know the love of Christ ... be filled with all the fullness of God."
Also, though Christ alone is the one perfect Son of God, we are to be sons with Him:
"... He also predestined [us] to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He [Christ Jesus] might be the
first-born among many brethren" [Romans 8:29]. "... in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of
their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both He Who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are
all of one, for which reason He [Christ Jesus] is not ashamed to call them [us] 'brethren'" [Hebrews 2:10-11].
True discipleship is formation of the life of Christ in us, that we become Christ-like. "... until Christ is formed in you...."
(Galatians 4:19). The very same Holy Spirit Who dwelt in the man Jesus now dwells in us. Christ Jesus abides in us as His
Holy Spirit. But He must also be formed in us, that is, become our very personality, the center of our very being and
thinking and acting. The Holy Spirit's function is to reveal Christ the Son to the world, and He seeks to do that through us as
He did through the man Jesus.
